A Fiery Full Moon in Aries
As the month unfolds, the theme of letting go (discussed in the previous post) continues with a fiery full moon on Oct. 6th in the cardinal, headstrong, trailblazing sign of Aries. Though Aries by its nature wants to initiate, the full moon is a moment of culmination, completion, and release. The full moon is marked by Aries’ fire, but maybe what’s being illuminated is something that needs to go, to be composted, so that we can make space for what comes next.
For some added context, the ruler of this full moon is Mars in its other home of Scorpio where it embodies its feminine, yin energy in the dark, watery depths of Scorpio. If Mars in Aries is a brash warrior barreling into battle, Mars in Scorpio is the undercover spy with the sensitive intel. No less sharp. No less lethal.
That said, Mars in Scorpio does not see or witness the Moon in Aries and thus cannot provide it with support. The Moon is left to its own devices in Mars’s home where it sits in opposition to the Sun - in its fall - in Libra. The Sun, in turn, does not see its host - Venus, the ruler of Libra - which is in Virgo undergoing its own crucible in fall and near the South Node.
So, what is the story of this full moon? Aside from being moments of culmination and release, full moons are defined by an opposition between the Sun and the Moon, and oppositions are of the nature of the planet Saturn. They are a kind of tug of war. A push-pull. A negotiation of polarities. The Sun might symbolize what we do in public - what others can see; the moon, in turn, is our interiority, our emotions. External versus internal. Mind versus body. Light versus dark. Yang and Yin. Masculine and feminine.
The flavor of this full moon is fiery (thanks to Aries), intense (thanks to Scorpio and Mars), and perhaps a little volatile since both the Sun and Moon cannot see the rulers of their domiciles and one of the rulers - Venus - is going through its own purification process before it comes out the other side (of Virgo and into Libra).
In terms of how it might land for you, consider your rising sign and the tension between the house topics the full moon will affect:
